Definition of Atma Karka

Dr. Udyot Kar Jha May 28, 2026 3:28 pm Definition of Atma Karka One of my students has sent me this post from the Facebook, wherein the author of this post has tried to impress upon that one should consider only the minutes (not the degrees etc) traversed by the planets in determination of Atma Karka and other Chara Karaka because the composer of the Sutra has used the term Kalaa and not the Amsha. In the conversation in the comment box he has tried to candidly defend his position. My reply to him is given below for all the lovers of Jaimini Astrology. What you are saying now is nothing new. Generations before you Lakshman Suri, the author of Jyoti Pradeepika committed the same mistake by mooting this idea because he didn’t understand the selection of word with composite meaning here. You also stand on the same platform. To understand this you will have to think why the Sutra is not clear about seven or eight Chara Karaka? Can it be said that the author or composer of this Sutra was confused? Would it be proper to think like this? Was not he alert enough and knew that this Sutra would be tempered in future by worshipers of lunar nodes? He was well aware of this mischief to come to pass and that has happened. So, he has put here a non return valve which emphasizes on seven Chara Karaka only. The Sutra has been tampered with and; as such, confusion about seven or eight Chara Karaka today persists. Even the composer of BPHS has faltered here and brought the hypothesis of two planets in longitudinal Tie. This may happen even in case of minutes by ignoring degree. I have made a separate post to this effect on my wall. Once you will decode all that things would be more clear. It is कलादिभि: न भोग: । Try to delve deeper and things will become more vivid. That’s why the explanatory authors have used the term अंशाधिक: Combine the two to get a clear clue. Neither Jaimini is confused nor the interpreter (BPHS) is wrong. Translators have committed the mistake. This is because they also have not been able to decode the term Amshadhikah properly. This itself changes the prevalent practice of evaluation of Chara Karaka. Many are victims of this, and you are not alone. One can see how guys are trying to do with Jaimini Sutras on the surface level. Previous Post
Rahu In Indian Classical Astrology

Dr. Udyot Kar Jha May 28, 2026 2:46 pm Rahu In Indian Classical Astrology People often complain that I speak. I too know that I speak bitter. Bitter speech is for the better of wisdom being sold for butter. Who doesn’t know the truth? Research is without search. People develop Nadi from the division of signs? I only say – check if your division is correct and proper? This hurts. Should it? Some bring Bhrigu, others bring Narada and yet another to someone else? When would astrology; as a true academic subject, be allowed to belong to its own intelligent students? Some say in spiritual astrology —- at which point of time was astrology not spiritual? Talk of financial astrology has moved to astrology of infatuation and lots love guruji get popped up from the holes of Earth. Each time they kneed the breasts of astrology for milk they come out with venom? Rahu, Rahu and Rahu. When the peculiarity and pungency of Rahu was not admitted in Indian classical astrology? Yes, the importance of Rahu was as never as was later made by the Quacks of Karma sitting inside the temples. One who speaks the truth becomes bad. And all those who relish and flourish through such ugly occupation of fraud and cheating come forward and cry – this is an attack on faith. Astrology is now operating on the same philosophy. But that is quite natural and normal. The more important thing is to start discussing now as to how Rahu is being or has been given the status of a planet. Scholars and teachers are silent over it. But why? Are we trying to over project Rahu? Who will go deep into it? Anyone who is trying to become smart through a post on Rahu should first do this by giving a write up to that effect. This would at least enable the students to think and analyse Previous Post
The Real Condition of Religion And Astrology In India Today

Dr. Udyot Kar Jha May 28, 2026 2:08 pm The Real Condition of Religion And Astrology In India Today The field of spirituality and astrology in India today is passing through a phase which was never thought before. The pathetic state of affairs can be conspicuously gauged in the conferences held in the name of Vaidik Astrology. One can easily see the charlatans in the ochre coloured vests demonstrating grandiosity over abstruse topics of spiritualism and self realisation from the decorated stage. Irony is that such hubris is being prompted and promoted by the pro hindutva government. Most of these people are suffering from Dunning-Kruger effect. The result is such that the seats of religiosity are tainted with frequent instances of rape and murder cases wherein persons from the corridors of power are also found verily involved. The organisation known for its homosexual notoriority is unfailingly providing protective umbrella to all these criminals. Rapists are being welcomed and garlanded with pride. In astrology there are teachers, learners and beginners all teaching the subject and the students are scarce. All are in the binge of illusory superiority. They continuously dump the dung of their head on Utube shamelessly in unabashed manner. Many praise the party in power with a hope of getting some award. The line of demarcation between Numerology, Palmistry, Tarot card reading, Graphology, Vastu Shastra Chakras, Foolish techniques of prognostications and all other nonsense under the name of Nadi astrology has been completely erased and all share the dias together with a chieftain of Dharma in orange garments, like a blind leading the group of blinds with lantern in broad day light. If anything is missing there is the true science of Indian Classical Astrology. All novices masquerading as experts talk highly about remedies and therapy of breath taking successful effects. If they are to be believed then any planet of the solar system working virulently in the natal chart can be targeted with the missile of Mantra and subdued to become favourable for their clients. I was agog to listen when Vastu Shastra expert claimed over the Mike that he can produce even a visiting card with Vastu techniques and power of Mantra which will not decay even for many decades; what to say about the concrete constructed structures. A lady Graphologist claimed that she can bring out a person from Deep Depression after examining his signature and hand writing. A man of scientific temperament and background will find himself in the circus of very high class jokers. Least said about the Numerologist, Tarot card readers and others are best. They don’t even give a thought that regardless of their conceptual and empirical validity these are different subjects even though they draw strength from astrology. So, they ought to have their separate forum and conference and must be kind enough to spare Indian Classical Astrology which is already vexed by the misadventures of priestly class busy preparing ground for stellar system by copying things from main stream astrology. And the dimwitted person charging the conference as any Maha Mandaleshwar keeps on adding fuel to the fire of all such nonsense. —– To be continued Previous Post
Truth of Bhrigu Nandi Nadi And Charlatans In Astro – Market

Dr. Udyot Kar Jha May 28, 2026 1:11 pm Rama, History, Divinity, Philosophy and Religion – Part 1 1.0 Preamble Recently Rahul Gandhi in his talk in abroad described Rama as a mythological and Pauranik character. This was enough to infuriate a section of orthodox Hindu and a court case has been filed against him; to send him to Jail for sealing his political career, charging him for hurting the belief and faith of Hindus. Honesty of Indian judiciary is apparent and expecting justice is like living in fool’s paradise. However, a known ghost is less imperileious than an unknown ghost. A Rahul free from political obligations may prove devastating for RSS and BJP. The over confidence of having annihilated Buddhism from India ie Santana philosophy may turn out to be vacuous and jeopardious. It should be understood very clearly that Rahul was talking on historical reality wherein paradigm of mere faith, belief or religiosity has no place at all to a logical mind. Belief and faith has no rational and scientific back up and if anyone feels that his religious feeling has been hurt he should himself first determine within himself if Rama is God or human, spiritual or historical, real or mythical. If Rama was human, he can’t be God. If he was divine, he can’t be historical. No archeological proof has been found to substantiate the existence of Rama as a real historical character from several archeological excavations in and around Ayodhya, the so called city of Rama. 2.0 Rama In Literature Although no concrete historical evidences of Rama is available his stories; despite being inconsistent and also at times in variance, has been invariably mentioned in different Hindu scriptures. This gives an impression that he was a figure in far fadding past of human history whose features and qualities have been exaggerated with poetic imaginations. The principal texts containing story of Rama that can be taken here for our thoughtful discussion are Ramayana of Valmiki and Ram Charit Manas of Tulsi Dasa. While Valmiki doesn’t depict Rama as God, Tulsi describes him as all mighty God and this concept has been spread in general public in India by the story tellers (कथा वाचक,) and Sadhu community. But description of Tulsi Dasa itself implies that Rama is a hypothetical figure and it is merely a fictional story. Let us take following instances 2.1. In the beginning of his Ramayana Tulsi narates the discussion between Bharadwaj Rishi and Yaagyavalka. There Bhardwaj implores Yaagyavalka, “There have been many Rama amongst which son of Dasarath is also called one of the Rama. But O learned sage, kindly tell me what is really Rama?” We gather two things from this description 2.1.1 Sage Bhardwaj is not the least interested in Rama who is said to be the son of king Dasarath. He is interested in Rama element (राम तत्व). This indicates that Rama , the son of Dasarath, is of nil spiritual significance (आध्यात्मिक महत्व). So, if Tulsi has endeavoured to foist divinity upon Rama is a forcedly engendered effort. Here, Tulsi inadvertently agrees with Valmiki who considers Rama as a human being of some superior quality but not the God almighty. 2.1.2 There have been many persons named Rama but none of them were of any spiritual or meditative relevance. Son of Dasarath called Rama was also an ordinary human being only. Hence, he is not of any religious value. 2.2. Tulsi writes that the story of Rama was fabricated in the mind of Shiva who later narrated it to his consort Parawati – रचि महेश निज मानस राखा, पाय सुसमय उमा सन भाखा। Now a story which is woven in somebody’s mind is a fiction and can’t be the history. As such, Tulsi indirectly confesses here that the story of his book is a fictional one. So it’s hero can’t be a historical character. 2.3. While Valmiki gives exhaustive description of Yajna performed before birth of Rama and a concealed idea of , how Kaushlya became pregnant, Tulsi tells that Rama didn’t come from the womb but he appeared from cosmic ethereal realms- भय प्रगट कृपाला. Here Tulsi clearly denies birth of Rama and strives to potrait him as God. Thus, the real identity of Rama as human being after taking conventional birth is not supported by Tulsi. Through out his book Tulsi can be seen struggling to establish Rama as supreme personality of Godhead. 2.4. Tulsi as a token of repentance for having committed something wrong further confesses – Despite knowing that you are supreme being, without birth, inexplicable and inexpressible, unknowable, can be perceived only through mind, I have described you as a person normal human form (in my story). – जे ब्रम्ह अजमव्यक्तमनुभवगम्य मन पर ध्यावही, ते कहहूं जानहुं नाथ हम तब सगुण यश नित गावही। In this way he has accepted that Rama is not human; albeit, he has described him as human superimposing upon him the features of Supreme personality of Godhead. From all these accounts Tulsi has again and again accepted that Rama; the son of Dasarath, whose story he has indited, is only a hypothetical and mythological entity. 3.0 Historical Aspects 3.1 In Valmiki Ramayana and other relevant texts viz Raghuvanshama etc pedigree of Rama is given which casts an impression that Rama was perhaps an important figure in very very ancient human history whose tales are being transferred from generation to generation with great deal of additions and manipulations. Although Valmiki doesn’t depict Rama as God his book starts with a query to sage Narada about existence of any human of supernal quality and characteristics on earth. In reply sage Narada says, “There has been one person named Rama born in Ikshvaku dynasty.” This indicates that there was some person called Rama who was later made God for harnessing fruits of religious harvest. 3.2. However, authenticity and antiquity of the details of these texts become questionable in the light of description of
Truth of Bhrigu Nandi Nadi And Charlatans In Astro – Market

Dr. Udyot Kar Jha May 28, 2026 1:11 pm Truth of Bhrigu Nandi Nadi And Charlatans In Astro – Market Today Charlatans are selling BNN (even Jaimini ) as an infallible tool of prognostication and are making a nonsense claim that BNN is the only real Nadi text. These novices have no knowledge of Nadi texts but are cheating the innocent gullible students through smart marketing tactics. It is for the information of every student of astrology that there is no original text in Sanskrit or in any vernacular language of the South India by the name of “Bhrigu Nandi Nadi”. Bhrigu Nadi is a separate text of astrology and is in Sanskrit language. There is another text of palmistry by the name of “Nandiker Nadi”. There is no independent text by the name of “Bhrigu Nandi Nadi”. So, BNN is completely a creation of R G Rao. It is not very ancient either. One may find in that book horoscopes of even the 20th century. As such, it is neither ancient nor has any touch of elements of the comprehensive wisdom of the sages. Its predictive principles give a very general type of indication and timings are based on motion and movement of planets. It is Jupiter and Saturn centric. Let us have a look over its principles. It says if Ketu (or Rahu) is ahead of Venus some marital discord may occur. But in what way? No idea. Suppose Venus is in Lagna and Ketu in 2H OR Venus in 4H and Ketu in 5H OR Venus in 7H and Ketu in 8H, would the effects be the same for all? Someone may say that BNN has no house consideration. Ok. Then suppose Venus is in Pieces and Ketu in Aries OR Venus in Libra and Ketu in Scorpio OR Venus in Virgo and Ketu in Libra, can there be the same type of effects in all these conditions. What would be the difference? And how to find out those differences? Is it possible to do that without the help of Parasari principles? In the absence of Lagna, its longitude or the longitude of the planets, Parasari principles would be crippled. But without that BNN is incomplete; and even incorrect. R G Rao was a palmist and weak in mathematics. He learnt this technique from T S Vasan, but couldn’t learn in full because of his own habits. While preparing the draft his book “Core of Nadi Astrology” he was constantly in my touch and made many revisions in the original right up after discussion with me. This fact was fully known to his principal disciple Satynarayan Nayik. So, Satyanarayana Nayik came in my contact for learning the Parasari astrology. Now most of the BNN guys have started taking Lagna into consideration. Today the situation has been made so piquantly vibrant that I myself feel befuddled when I find these Charlatans making prodigious claims. There are novices with laughable claims of research and dare teach deeper nuances of even Jaimini Astrology. However; the fact is that they can’t explain the abstruse Sutras of JUS. Yet they have put up the cap of expertise on their head. The same is the case with neo experts of stellar astrology or Nakshatra astrology about which I would write later. At this point I would only suggest that the students must remain away from these novices and Charlatans. Students should and must first of all learn Parasites astrology from where all these (including Numerology and Tarot Reading etc) have branched out. Without knowing Parasari astrology one can’t understand the pristine principles operating sublimely under these things nor shall they be able to detect the flaws set therein Previous Post
Dancing With Nakshatra On the Dias of Astrology Part 1

Dr. Udyot Kar Jha May 28, 2026 12:18 pm Dancing With Nakshatra On the Dias of Astrology Part 1 In this series I would try to explain to the students what is being done or has been done by the guys guided by invisible forces that are (and have been working since centuries) to destroy the Indian Classical Astrology. It is surprising that all these things emanate from the fertile soil of South India eating upon and huddled under the wide wings of Tamil wisdom. Thus, the intention is that if the mischief is detected, blame must go to Tamil society. So, I feel unhesitant in calling these efforts as a deep conspiracy against rare and reverened ancient Tamil wisdom. The deeper quest leads us to temples whence, these erupt forth as poison peels for Classical Indian Astrology. As such, it is necessary to peep into history as well before embarking upon actual discussion. Vaidik Astrology And Vadanga This term given by force to the Classical Indian Astrology is not only a misnomer but also smacks of conspiracy. Throughout the Veda, if we rummage it page by page and verse (Richa) by verse we don’t find anything that suggests the principles we apply while reading a birth chart or making predictions. Yet there have been invisible which continuously called the Classical Indian Astrology as Vadanga i.e. the organ of Veda. If Veda doesn’t have anything other than mention of the names of Nakshatra in scattered manner, how Astrology can be dubbed as Vedanga or the organ of Veda. It must also be noted that 27 Nakshatras are nowhere listed at one place in the Vedas. Even the 27 number of Nakshatras are obtained through references by hook or crook. So, we can’t connect Classical Indian Astrology directly with Vedas. By this fact it is also wrong to call Classical Indian Astrology as stellar astrology. To call Classical Indian Astrology as stellar astrology and not Rashi (Sign based) it was first popularized by the name of Vaidik Astrology. This paved way for making Nakshatra important in Classical Indian Astrology. But this is obviously conspiratorial. It has now been established through thorough archeological proofs that Veda is outlandish for Indian soil. —– To be continued Previous Post
